It's Anzac Day here in Australia (& New Zealand). For those who don't know, Anzac Day is where we remember those who didn't return from the various wars and it commemorates our troops landing in Gallipoli.
My g-grandfather served in France in WWI. Only this week I have been researching exactly where he was and I have discovered that, as a member of the 6th Light Trench Mortar Battery, he took part in the battles on the Western Front and their division was the last to leave France at the end of the war.
My grandfather (his son) also served. He was in the Pigeon Corps in Borneo in WWII. They used pigeons as their main means of communication in the jungle so his unit was a very important part of the war effort.
